A Better World by Design teamed up with Save the Bay to tackle a very real and pressing issue: how to preserve coastal communities in the face of increasing threats from rising sea levels, natural disasters and climate change. Why does ABWxD offer the Better World Challenge? Quite simply, it takes our conference beyond the weekend by engaging with real problems, generating creative and multi-disciplinary solutions, and producing quantifiable social impact. The Better World Challenge offers an extraordinary opportunity for students to showcase their work, apply their innovative ideas to a social problem, and win awesome prizes.

In small towns and sprawling cities across the globe, food deserts are a mounting issue. A food desert is a geographic area with limited access to fresh, nutritious, or locally-sourced food.
